Swedish Santa (Jultomten)

Swedish Santa The Swedish Santa Claus is a dwarf size elf that lives in the forrest. Actually I think there are quite a lot of them, one to each village I suppose. (How could only one Santa have time to deliver Christmas presents to 8 million people, all on Christmas Eve?)

The Swedish Santa doesn't have reindeers, doesn't fly and doesn't crawl down chimneys like the American Santa Claus. His sack of presents is pulled on a sleigh, by himself or by one or two goats. He will visit all children on the night of December 24th, always opening up the conversation by saying: "Finns det några snälla barn här?" ("Are there any nice children here?" Only the nice children will get presents of course.)

And the father of the family will always miss out on meeting Santa, since he is so unfortunate to be out buying his evening paper - every year!

This Santa is wearing gray pants and a red coat like most Swedish Santas. He is also wearing black wooden shoes (clogs).
